Earlier in the year we experimented with micro-dosing LSD for productivity. This became popularized by the tech bros in the early ‘00’s and we wanted to see if it held up.
At first it was hard to jump into acid first thing in the morning, but after the first day it was no big deal. I was gifted a spray bottle of 20 hits of acid and was told that each spritz was 1/10th of a dose. My response to LSD is usually kind of speedy, and I felt concerned with being too amped up and encountering stress during the week. Thankfully they were just nerves.
I started off with one microdose first thing in the morning. It was unremarkable, no shifts in my disposition or process. The next day I did another single dose, that time I got tired and took a long restorative nap. While I could intellectualize that experience to say it bolstered my productivity through fortifying my body’s need to process stress through rest, I won’t. I was looking for a micro-dose experience like I have with psilocybin. Even when there is an absence of an “experience” there is still a sense of support and wholeness. With the single dose of LSD, it wasn’t there.
The third day I did a double spritz to start to test the threshold and counter any tolerance that had accrued from the days prior. That made a difference. The doubled micro-dose produced the focus I was looking for and evolved into a bit of a loopy, manic experience towards the close of the day. I wasn’t sure if it was the lack of appetite during the day or the LSD, but once I ate
something I felt more grounded. The following day I skipped a dose because I was busy and feeling focused, perhaps a residual effect after the increased dosage. Even without the dose, I felt positive about the experiences from the previous days. The final day I took a double dose again. The experience was identical at first but ended up being more hallucinogenic at the close of the day. While I was focused, these feelings slipped away to mild disorientation and a little bit of restlessness during sleep.
Overall, I don’t know if I would do the single dose of LSD as a micro-dose regimen. I think mushrooms work better for me in that capacity. The double dose was pretty fun and I could see integrating the experience into my process from time to time, especially if the week is heavy with creative work and events later in the eve.
